Processing through language
Air converts what happens into something that can be stated. This is the element's actual mechanism, and most of its reputation follows from it. Mercury in an air sign is at home, because the planet and the element are doing the same job. The Moon in air describes a feeling rather than sitting in it, which is why air Moons are often articulate about distress they have not yet resolved.
